Funeral Held For Isabel A. Shand

Funeral services were held in the Manti Center Ward Chapel Monday for Mrs. Isabel Anderson Shand, with Bishop Claude Braithwaite conducting. Mrs. Shand died Friday at her home of a heart ailment.

She was born in Manti, July 18, 1876, a daughter of Christian and Emily Pickering Anderson, and lived in Manti most of her life.

She was married to Charles Shand, November 14, 1900, in the Manti Temple.

As an active church worker, Mrs. Shand served for many years in various capacities, including Sunday School teacher, Primary Counselor, member of the Primary Stake Board member of the Relief Society presidency, and as leader of the literary class.

She was president of the Manti Ladies Literary Club, a member of the Old Folks Committee for more than 25 years, member of the D.U.P. and was the first district regent of the Daughters of the Blackhawk War veterans.

Survivors include her husband, a son and three daughters: Stuart C. Shand, Manti; Mrs. Don V. (Rita) Tibbs, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Kermit (Maxine) Bradley, Inglewood, California, and Mrs. Bae Jensen, Manti; 10 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; two brothers and a sister, Perry Anderson, Axtell, Edward Anderson and Mrs. Nels Christiansen, Manti.
