Billy Monford "Bill" Limes

LIMES Billy "Bill" Monford Limes, 86, a longtime resident of Marysville, died Saturday, January 26, 2008, at The Gables at Green Pastures. A plumbing and heating contractor most of his life, he was a former Union County building inspector and retired from his own home inspection business, HomExam. He also was a former plumbing and pipefitting teacher at Central Ohio Joint Vocational School, now Tolles Technical Career Center. He was a member and former trustee of First Presbyterian Church of Marysville and a past director of the Union County Chamber of Commerce. A member of Marysville Lions Club for many years, he was a past-president and received the Melvin Jones Award and received special recognition from Lions International for over 50 years of membership. He was an avid league golfer and bowler and enjoyed bird watching. During his teen years, he was the youngest Boy Scout ever in Franklin County to receive the Eagle Scout Award. A veteran of the Naval Air Corps during World War II, he was a graduate from V-5 carrier fighter pilot school at Pensacola, FL, just as the war ended. He was a life member of VFW Post 3320 and was past commander of American Legion Union Post 79. He participated in local Memorial Day ceremonies for many years as wreath presenter representing the Navy. During his retirement, he enjoyed helping his children in their businesses and interests. Throughout his married life, he was able to maintain his community activities and work because of his devoted and supportive wife. He was a graduate of Columbus North High School. He was born February 10, 1921 in Akron to the late Ernest Odell and Mary Camelia Riordan Limes, Sr. and was also predeceased by a brother Ernest Odell Limes, Jr. and an infant brother Scott Nelson Limes, brothers-and sister-in-law Harold and Harriet Nicol and LeRoy Nicol, James Fink and James Hannahs. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruth Esther Frances Nicol Limes, whom he married September 30, 1944 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Chuckery; a daughter, Barbara (Ron) Miller of Marysville; three sons, Richard (Ruth) Limes of Columbus, Douglas Limes of Marysville and Bruce (Mary) Limes of Marysville; ten grandchildren, Ken (Kendy) Miller, Crista Miller, Joel (Heather) Limes, Shawn Limes, Ryan (Andrea) Limes, Michael (Dylia) Limes, Melissa Limes, Daniel Limes, Sarah Limes and Benjamin Limes; two great-grandsons, Luke and Kilen Limes; one great-granddaughter, Hallee Limes; a brother, Ralph (Jerry) Limes of Columbus; two sisters, Dorothy Hannahs of Upper Arlington and Margaret Fink of Columbus; two sisters-in-law, Clarice Nicol of Marysville and Bonnie Limes of Minerva Park; and many other relatives, including a cousin, Linda (Ron) Limes Ellis of Lyndhurst.
