The Becket Town Records show that Benjamin Higley entered his active career as a teacher, having taught the district school for several terms. In 1804 he was chosen one of the school committeemen for the town. On the 16th of September, 1802, he married Sally McKowan. Military record can be found in the Book "History of Portage County, Ohio."
