Dennis J. Cate
Dennis J. Cate, 83, a well-known resident of Coile Road, died Tuesday afternoon in a local hospital nursing home.
A lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was a son of the late Allen and Minnie Hutsell Cate. He was a member of Keith Memorial United Methodist Church and the Home Service Sunday School Class. He was a well-known retired farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Leeta Hamby Cate; one son, J.D. Cate; one granddaughter, Dianna Michelle Cate; one sister, Mrs. Clarence (Katherine) Miller and two brothers, Robert Cate and Fred Cate, all of Athens.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Dan Kelly and lay leader J. Neal Ensminger officiating. Burial will follow in McMinn Memory Gardens.
The body is in state at Smith Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9. Pallbearers will be Harold Guthrie, Jimmy Curtis,Scott Miller, Donnie Wilson, Lowell Nipper, Vernon Minnick and Don Moneyham. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Home Service Sunday School Class of Keith Memorial United Methodist Church.
