MAX BABB, WAR MACHINERY FIRM EXECUTIVE, DIES
Milwaukee, Wis., March 13 (AP). -- Max W. Babb, chairman of the board of directors of the Allis-Chalmers Manufacturing company, died today. Babb had been president of the firm, one of the nation's largest engaged in capital goods production, from 1932 until Jan. 5, 1942, when he became chairman.
Born at Mount Pleasant, Ia., he was practicing law there when appointed attorney for the Allis-Chalmers company in 1904. He became vice president and general attorney of the company during its reorganization in 1913.
He was a director of the Cutler-Hammer corporation, a member of the executive committee of the Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance company and a director of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. He is survived by his widow, a daughter and two sons.
