Irving Thorton Babb

Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday for Irving Thorton Babb of Glendale, a retired Milwaukee lawyer.
Babb died of heart failure Sunday at his home. He was 83.
A native of the Milwaukee area, Babb was son of Max W. Babb, a former executive at Allis-Chalmers.
Babb graduated with a degree in hisoty from Yale University in 1929 and from the University of Michigan Law School in 1932. He specialized in pension and profit-sharing plans for the Milwaukee law firm of Quarles and Brady for about 40 years, retiring in 1970.
One of his professional claims to fame was to help secure the movie rights for "The Wizard of Oz" in the late 1930s, accoriding to his daughter. . .
For a short time in the '30s, Babb also was on the board of directors for the Milwaukee Brewers minor league baseball team.
"He was also a sports fan. . .He also contributed to a national hight school track record whie running in a hurdle relay at Riverside High School, she said.
"He was an excellent bridge player, had a marvelous sense of humor and was always somebody who was a joy to talk to,. . .
Visitation is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Feerick Funeral Home, 2025 E. Capitor Dr., Shorewood. Services will begin at 6 p.m. Burial will be private
