Services Held for Rev. Isaac Smith

MENA ARK., -- Funeral service for Rev. Isaac W. Smith, 92 year-old Watson resident who died May 2,1959, at Idabel, was held Sunday morning at 11 o'clock at the Geyer Chapel with Rev. S.L. Montgomery of Idabel officiating. Burial was in the Pinecrest Memorial Park, directed by the Geyer Funeral Home. The pallbearers, all grandsons, were: Dewey Smith, Billy Joe Auld, J.C. Smith, Bobby Smith, Perry Smith and Jim Smith.

Rev. Smith was born April 16, 1867, at Campbell, Tex. He grew to manhood near his birthplace and moved to Wickes in 1927 where he lived for about five years. He moved to Watson, in 1927 where he lived until about five years ago. In 1954 he moved to Idabel where he spent the remainder of his life.

He was a lifelong member of the Baptist church. He was united in marriage to Miss Mary Smithey who preceded him in death in 1926. Later he was united in marriage with Mary (Reid) Gentry, August 8, 1928 who survives him. He had spent over 70 years in the ministry, and had conducted 1,269 burials, baptized 3,998 and had married 946 couples.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Mary (Reid, Gentry) Smith of Idabel; three sons, T.G. Smith and J.B. Smith of Kilgore, Tex., and I.W. Smith of Rodessa, La.; two daughters, Mrs. Willie Mae Talley of Dallas, Tex., and Mrs. Ida Auld of Liberty, Tex.; also 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; four stepsons: Earl Gentry of Hatton, Ark., Henry Gentry of Pampa, Tex., Jack Gentry of Pueblo, Colo., and William Gentry of Kirbyville, Texas.
