Leechburg
Kathryn E. (Klingensmith) Hepler, 83, of Leechburg, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2008, in her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born Feb. 5, 1925, in Gilpin Township, she was the daughter of the late Eugene P. and Lillian M. (Stull) Klingensmith. She had been employed as a scale attendant in the cold mill department at the West Leechburg Works of Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corp., and formerly worked as a clerk in the former Miller's Drug Store on Third Street, Leechburg. Mrs. Hepler was a member of the Reformation Lutheran Church in Kepple Hill, Parks Township, the DAV Auxiliary in Vandergrift and a former member of the OES of Leechburg. She was a 1943 graduate of Leechburg High School, where she played in the band. She enjoyed doing crafts, sewing and traveling. Also, she enjoyed writing to her pen pal in New Zealand, Ellie Thomas, for the past 67 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald E. Klingensmith. Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Harry H. Hepler Jr.; two daughters, Kathie E. Best (Ronald), of Gilpin Township, and Sandy A. Raypush, of Leechburg; five grandchildren, Karen and Larry Best, Samantha (Clyde) Gamble, Robert (Kristen) Raypush and Cherlyn and her companion, Dan Ulmer; and six great-grandchildren. Friends will be welcomed by her family from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in CLAWSON'S, Second at Main streets, Leechburg. Funeral ceremonies will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Reformation Lutheran Church in Kepple Hill. Officiating will be her pastor, the Rev. Philip N. Gustafson. Interment will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
