OBITUARY - ALTOONA HERALD, JULY 2, 1942

Funeral Rites for Chas. Edward Hick
Funeral services for Charles Edward Hick were held from the Altoona Church of Christ on Thursday afternoon, June 25th, at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Chas. C. Miller. Interment was made in the Rising Sun cemetery following the service.
We are reminded again that "in an hour that ye think not the Son of man cometh" for him. For it was suddenly that Charles Edward Hick, second child of Mrs. and Mrs. Charles Hick who was born at Rising Sun on October 15, 1868, passed away in his home near Altoona on June 23, 1942 at 4:30 a.m. at the age of 73 years, 8 months, and 7 days. He was busy about his chores on the evening of June 22, when stricken and although he maintained that he would soon be all right, he did not linger long with us.
Mr. Hick was married to Fanny Arrowood on January 22, 1896, who passed away on May 1, 1897 with the twin girls to which she had just given birth. He has always lived in the vicinity of Altoona and farming was his occupation. He attended the Hick school and was a member of the Odd Fellows while they met in Altoona. He was a quiet, unassuming but lovable character who brought no harm upon others or himself. Like the quiet stream that runs deep, this life no doubt, though quiet, had great depth. He leaves a sister, Miss Zilla Cidona Hick and a brother, Clarence Malcolm Hick, both of Altoona, as well as a host of relatives and friends.
