Antimony, UT. - Our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Garth Gleave Roberts, age 86, passed away suddenly on May 24, 2003 at the home of a daughter, in Richfield, Utah. He was born September 9, 1916 in Annabella, Utah, a son of Thomas Wilburn and Jennie Gleave Roberts. He married Elvera Ilene Helquist, December 8, 1937 in Richfield, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple March 20, 1943. She died February 10, 1996.

Garth was a member of the LDS Church, serving in many capacities. He was the Antimony Cemetery Sextant. He was the owner of a grocery store and café in Antimony for many years. He was a rancher and farmer. Garth's greatest love was the outdoors, whether it was fishing on Otter Creek, where he met many of his friends, or hunting the mountains. He broke Teddy Roosevelt's B&C record for the world's record cougar in 1964, which he held for many years.

He loved being surrounded by his family and he loved each and every day of his life. Garth is survived by his children: LaRell (Sherey) Roberts, Elk Ridge; Keith (LaRene) Roberts, Salt Lake City; Elaine (Nate) Tebbs, Richfield; Ken (Valeene) Roberts, Antimony; Darlene (Doug) Evans, Panguitch; Kim (Scott) Adams, Annabella; 29 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren; sister, Faye Gardner, Keanny, AZ. He was preceded in death by a son, Lavere Roberts, three brothers: Walter, Marell and Doyle Roberts; a son-in-law: Lynn Pierson; 2 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 29, 2003 at 1:00 P.M. in the Antimony LDS Ward Chapel. Burial will be in the Antimony Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
