DePeyster, Jan 24 - Leland Wilson passed away Thursday afternoon, January 17 at his home on the East Road. Mr. Wilson had been in usual good health until the week before his death. He had a cold but was at work away from home at carpenter's work until Thursday night, January 10. On Friday morning his cold was worse and he decided to remain at home a few days and doctor his cold. He did not think it necessary to call medical aid until the following week when it was decided he had the "flu". Later, bronchial pneumonia set in and he died on Thursday after less than a weeks illness.

Leland Wilson was born August 31st, 1885 the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Wilson. Twenty years ago he was married to Mary Beach, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Beach. He was a very industrious person and besides working his farm he worked every spare moment at carpenter's work. He was a member of DePeyster Lodge I.O.O.F. of which he was a Past Noble Grand. A member of the Foresters and DePeyster Grange. He was very devoted to his family and a friend to every one he knew. No one could ask for a favor or help of Leland but it was granted and he will be greatly missed by the whole community. The funeral was held from his late home Sunday at 1:30 and at the M.E. Church in DePeyster at 2 o'clock. The church being filled to its uttermost. Rev. F. Johnson pastor of the M. E. Church of Waddington, formerly pastor of this place, officiating, assisted by Rev. W. Young of this charge. Burial was in Heuvelton Cemetery. The casket was covered with beautiful flowers from his friends and all organizations in town. He is survived by his wife, Mary Beach Wilson, three daughters, Joyce, who is at home with her mother, Carrie who is in her second year in Heuvelton High School and Mildred who is six years old. His mother and one brother Lloyd. The relatives have the sympathy of a host of friends.
