BEVERLY – Norma M. (Winther) Adams, 80, wife of the late Arthur F. “Bud” Adams, Jr., died on Thursday at the Hunt Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Danvers. She was the daughter of the late Niels and Johanna Winther.

Norma was a lifelong resident of Beverly. She loved this area and made many friends over the years. She was employed by the USMC for a brief time, worked in the real estate agency of Barbra Goldberg, and was the credit manager for Sam Goldberg & Sons Oil Co.

She felt her most important work, however, was done as a volunteer in the Beverly School System. She was also a volunteer at the adult learning center in Beverly where she worked with several people in the adult literacy program. Her greatest joy was helping people, young or old, learn something new. All of her students truly touched her heart and made her feel that she made a difference in their lives.

Norma was a member of the Wenham museum and volunteered in the gift shop. She loved art and music and was a long time member of the Guild of Beverly Artists where she exhibited paintings, photography and her own unique earrings.

Norma was a true friend to all who knew her and she will be deeply missed by her family and friends. To celebrate her life and honor her love of color and anything artistic, we encourage you to wear something colorful to the visiting hours and the funeral service.

Mrs. Adams is survived by her two children, Peter S. Adams of Beverly and Kim Adams-Janowski and her husband Joseph of Chelmsford, three step grandchildren, two sisters, Marjorie Dale of Florida, Shirley Dunham of New Hampshire and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Betty Campus and Lily Pomfret. Norma's family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at the Herrick House, the staff of the Kaplan family Hospice House and Hospice of the North Shore, the private aides from North Shore PRN and the staff of Hunt Nursing and Retirement who not only cared for Norma, but showed her and our family kindness, compassion, dignity and friendship.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday in the Campbell – Lee, Moody, Russell Funeral Home, 9 Dane Street, (Downtown location) at 10:00 A.M. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 4 – 8 P.M. Burial in the North Beverly Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm Street, Danvers, MA 01923.
