Last rites for Mrs. C.W. White, 69, who died at her home in Itasca Saturday, May 24 at 1:30 PM were held at the Central Baptist Church Monday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock. Officiating ministers were Rev. James Pharr, pastor, and Mr. W.R. Craig, minister of the Itasca Church of Christ.
Mrs. Evelene White was a native of Alabama. She was born Aug. 13, 1882 and was the daughter of Lydia Catherine and Garrett Bourland.
She was married to Charlie W. White in Pickwick, Tenn, in 1900.
Moving to Texas with her husband 50 years ago, she had resided in this section of Hill County continuously. Her husband preceded her in death April 2, 1945.
During his active years Mr. White had engaged in farming. Fourteen years ago Mr. and Mrs. White moved to town here where Mrs. White had continued to live after her husband's death.
The family is well known in this section.
Her death Saturday, which occurred unexpectedly, was attributed to a heart ailment. She was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church.
Interment was in the Itasca Cemetery under direction of Sanford Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Ellis Bailey, James Fox, Paul Underwood, Willard Alverson, Martin Turner, Everett Calfee, Buster Turner and Charles Pyron.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Ira Beard and Mrs. Bob Bailey of Itasca, and Mrs. Boyd Odom of Dallas; two sisters, Mrs. Lee Massey 0f (unable to read) and Mrs. Walter Linn of McAllen, and two grandchildren.
