In June, 1907, the family moved to their ranch in Dark Valley near the Boulder mountain. They milked cows and made cheese until September.
Anne, her brother Charley and sister Emma Jane, went to Provo to school in the fall of 1907. They rented two rooms and boarded themselves and two cousins, Jane Coleman and Jay Snow, who lived with them. That winter they all had the measles.
In June of 1908, Anne and Charley graduated from a four year normal course from Brigham Young University. Anne later graduated from Utah State University in Logan.
Anne became superintendent of the Wayne School District in 1913. She was re-elected in November 1914 and was the last superintendent to be chosen by voters of the county, as a new law went into effect which made the office appointive.
Anne later resigned and fulfilled a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Again, on August 15, 1925, Anne was appointed superintendent of schools and served in this capacity until the spring of 1938. At this time she resigned, preferring to devote more time to supervising and teaching. She retired from teaching in 1951, having spent 50 years in this profession.
Anne served as the compiler and editor of the first Wayne County history, "Rainbow Views", published in 1952.
Anne lived in Teasdale in the old family home with her father until his death. She then stayed alone there until 1960, when, suffering from arthritis and other ailments, she moved to a small apartment in Richfield. Her condition continued to worsen and she was moved to a rest home in Orem, Utah, where she died March 14, 1965. She was 77. Anne was buried in Teasdale, Utah.
