L.S. "Red" DeBord – 90 passed away Friday, May 23, 2008 in Stratford, Texas. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at First Baptist Church with Glenn White, family friend officiating. Burial will be in Stratford Cemetery. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors.
"Red" was born February 17, 1918 in Clarendon, Texas to Rev. William and
Mattie N DeBord . He grew up in Hedley with four brothers and three sisters. In 1940 he married Anita Mae Harris in Quail, Texas. He had been a resident of Stratford since 1950 and was owner/operator of Dirt Works before his retirement. "Red" was a member of First Baptist Church and served as a deacon for many years. He loved being with family and friends. He was a number one booster of the Stratford Elks.
He was preceded in death by his son Weldon Dwayne DeBord and grandson Mickey Lee Brower Hudson.
Survivors include; his wife Anita of the home, daughters, Sonja Kendrick and husband, Cagle of Stratford, Barbara Hudson Moore and husband Taylor, and Grovene Handing all of Amarillo; sister, Edna Dishman of Dallas; grandchildren, Stacy, Brian, Craig, Preston, Yvette, Cheryl, Tammy and Will; 20 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
