Robert Anderson was born in Marion County, Iowa, March 10, 1858 and spent all his life in that vicinity and near Des Moines at the age of 27 he was married to Miss Emma Peters of Runnells, Iowa and to this union were born nine children, Wm Anderson of Rising Sun; Chas., of Bowsher Station; Mrs. Minnie Frast (sic)(actually Frost), of Osceola, Iowa; Mrs. Clara Burnett of Canada; Joseph and Frank of Des Moines, with the exception of Mrs. Emma, the mother who died October 19, 1914 and three infants who died very young, all were present.

Bob or Anderson as he was often called lived to see all his children married, having homes of their own and about 4 years ago was united again in marriage to Mrs. Tillie Weaver of Des Moines on March 10, 1920, who still lives to mourn the departure of her companion.

He leaves six sisters and four brothers Mrs. J. W. Denny, of Long Beach, California; Mrs. Susie Cowley of Arizona; Mrs. Kate White of Runnells, Iowa; Mrs. (L)ou Murry, of Missouri; Mrs. J. (John) (V.) Scovel and Mrs. W. O. Winegar, of Des Moines; Mr. Frank (Anderson) of Des Moines; Bird ( of) Carlisle, Iowa; Edd, ( ); also 2 step children ( ) very kindly of him as (well as) a number of nephews (and nieces) who cherish the loving (memory) of uncle Bob.

He was well known from Vandalia to Des Moines, having lived (many) years on a farm where he reared his children (until the) Peters Estate was sold (before) moving to Ivey where he (c )ted a store for a few years (after)ward moving to Rising Sun and thence to Bowsher Station in the same business. He made and kept many warm friends at all places where he was known by his kind jovial and clever nature, never too busy to lend ahelping hand to needy. His home was always open to company, where the young people loved to go.

He was in the usual good health early Saturday morning until 6 o'clock when he was taken suddenly ill soon lapsing into an unconscious state where medical skill nor loved ones could do him no good. He wrestled with the grim monster death for nearly nine hours only to give way to its venomous sting about three o'clock in the afternoon of January 19, 1924 at the age of 66 years, 10 months, 9 days.

His death came as a shock to his relatives, friends, and community. He was a good neighbor and loved by all who knew his sunny and jovial life. A number of years ago he united with the Church of Christ at Camp Center and was also a member of the Masonic order in good standing. His vacant chair will be greatly missed in the broken home of his loving companion.
