Ernest R. Jackson, 80, of Amarillo died Monday, Jan. 21, 2008.
Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday in Family Worship Center with Max Beggs, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St.

Mr. Jackson was born June 2, 1927, in Amarillo. He served in the Navy during World War II.

He owned and operated several automotive repair shops in Amarillo. He retired after selling Circle 4 Transmissions. Mr. Jackson loved children and working on cars and clocks.

He married Violet Patterson in 1957. She preceded him in death in 1995. He married Grace Clayton in 1996. She died on Jan. 11, 2008.

He also was preceded in death by two daughters, Cathy Jackson and Tina Holland.

Survivors include a daughter, Rosa Elkins and husband Billy of Amarillo; two sons, Richard Jackson and wife Sherrie of Galveston and Tommy Jackson and wife Kim of Houston; a stepdaughter, Sharron Harris and husband Sid of Amarillo; three stepsons, Gary Don Clayton and wife Cheri of Albuquerque, N.M., Dennis Lee Clayton and wife Linda and Randy J. Clayton and wife Dianna, all of Amarillo; a sister, Dorothy Askew of Amarillo; six grandchildren, Gerald Barnes, Brandon Holland, Ricky Jackson Jr., Daniel Jackson, Clint Jackson and Leah Jackson; eight stepgrandchildren; 16 stepgreat-grandchildren; and a stepgreat-great-grandchild.

The family suggests memorials be to the Don & Sybil Harrington Cancer Center, 1500 Wallace Blvd., Amarillo, TX 79106; or Olivia's Angels, BSA Hospice, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79105.
