Edwin L. Dawson

Edwin L. Dawson, 74, Rushville, died Friday at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis.

Born on May 3, 1923, in Orange, he was the son of George R. and Irene I. (Friend) Dawson.

On Oct. 24, 1942, he married Christabelle (Pierce) Dawson, and she survives. Mr. Dawson spent his early life in Orange and graduated from Orange High School in 1941. He spent most of his life in Rush County.

He was the current owner of Dawson Soft Water Service in Rushville. He had retired in 1978 after 33 years as a Rush County rural letter carrier. Mr. Dawson was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army and received the Bronze Star and Presidential Citation.

Survivors also include a son, Dennis Dawson, New Palestine; two daughters, Mrs. J.C. (Nancy) Anderson, Stevensville, Mich., and Mrs. Steve (Deda) Winkler, St. Joseph, Mich.; a brother, George R. Dawson, Connersville; a sister, Edith Dixon, Connersville; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at Moster & Cox Mortuary, Rushville.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the mortuary with the Rev. Timothy Bonney officiating. Burial will be in East Hill Cemetery, Rushville, with a military graveside service.
