Jessie Mae Myers was born 31 March 1896. Her birth mother, Augusta Vernon Matthews Myers, died 28 June 1896 when Jessie was less than three months old. Her father, James Edward Myers, having three children (ages 6, 4, 2) at home and having to run a farm, sought help from Jessie W. & Sue Matthews Anderson to take care of his infant child. Eventually the Andersons, who were childless at the time, adopted her. Jessie Mae stayed in South Carolina and eventually married. She occasionally visited her birth family and some of them visit her over the years.

I have not included the Anderson family completely on this site, being I have no document to support this bio. On the 1900 US Census, she is listed as a Niece of the Anderson family.

This account is based on stories I have been told over the years; however I am still trying to find documents to prove this scenario. I will update this as more accurate data is obtained. HCC
