Evalyn McDonald Abnee, age 87, wife of 56 years to the late Robert "Bob" Abnee, passed away Friday, May 6, 2022. Born November 10, 1934, in Clark County, Kentucky, to the late B.C. and Leona Whitaker McDonald, she was a 1953 graduate of Nicholas County High School, a devoted homemaker and a lifelong farmer. Evalyn loved to read, paint and work in the garden, growing both flowers and vegetables.
Surviving are: three children, Laura Boone, Ronnie Abnee and Tina Abnee, all of Nicholas County; four grandchildren, Angel Beatty, Joshua Abnee, Jenna Abnee and Jessica Boone; seven great-grandchildren, De´Kain Abnee, Tristan Watkins, Alyssa Watkins, Andrew Watkins, Peyton Boone, Parker Bennett and Paisley Hunt; a great-great-granddaughter, Alaina Abnee; and a host of nieces and nephews. Also preceding her in death were: a son, Frankie Abnee; four brothers, Bueford McDonald, Dennis McDonald, David McDonald and Rodney McDonald; and three sisters, Dora Norvell, Linda Faulconer and Joredda Garrett.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home by Bro. Phillip Mattox. Burial will follow at Barterville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. Wednesday until the time of service.
