ST. GEORGE-Afton Mary Johnson Pugmire, age 78, passed away unexpectedly May 17, 2008 in St. George, Utah.

She was born November 20, 1929 in Montpelier, Idaho to Afton Mary Huffman and Edwin Peter Johnson. Afton was raised near Georgetown, Idaho on a ranch along the Bear River. Afton attended school in Georgetown and loved to ride her horse to school in the Fall and Spring. Afton met and fell in love with Deward Raymond Pugmire soon after World War II. They were married August 17, 1948 in Montpelier, Idaho. They were later sealed together for all eternity in the Logan Temple on October 30, 1958. Afton will always be remembered for her famous homemade bread, her sought after talent for ironing clothes, and her unconditional kindness and love to her children and grandchildren. Afton was an active member of the LDS church and loved to serve others. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years; their five children, Michael Ray (Darla) Pugmire, Ann (Bill) Graff, Cathy (Joel) Olson, Lindsay Neal (Esther) Pugmire, Tammi (Rob) Thomson; 21 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Fordin; her brothers, Edwin and Lloyd Johnson. She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Dean and Neil; and a sister, Effie.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, May 23, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Slickrock LDS Ward Chapel on 2434 E Riverside Drive, St. George, Utah. A Viewing will be held for all Family and Friends prior to the Funeral Service on May 23 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the same location.
Interment will be at the Tonaquint Cemetery.
