The funeral for Charles Junior Frederick will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Big Fork Lutheran Church in Big Fork, Minn. Burial, with a brief graveside service, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Pine Island Cemetery.

Mr. Frederick, 86, of Big Fork, formerly of West Concord, died Friday (May 16, 2008) at Big Fork Hospital.

He was born in Milton Township, Dodge County. He grew up with farming in his blood, took over the family farm as a third generation farmer and continued farming for much of his life. He married Shirley Grass, and they had three children. They later divorced.

Mr. Frederick served as a deacon at the Zwingli United Church of Christ in Berne for many years, and was a member of the Milton Grange.

He later married Mildred Stiller Yennie of Pine Island. In 1974, the couple sold the family farm and moved to Big Fork, with his stepson Kert. There Mr. Frederick drove a bus for the Big Fork school district for 15 years before retiring. He enjoyed traveling to southern Minnesota and Wisconsin to visit relatives and friends, playing cards, going to the Over Fifty Club in Big Fork to visit and listening to music at the Blackduck (Minn.) Senior Center. His wife preceded him in death on July 4, 1996.

Survivors include three children, Cathy Whitcomb of Hastings, Minn., Donn (Lynn) Frederick of Chatfield, and Nancy (Melroy) Ronnigen of Pine Island; three stepchildren, Evon (Yennie) Bushman of Pine Island, Colin (Karen) Yennie of Oronoco and Kert (Cheri) Yennie of Bemidji, Minn.; 19 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and special friend, Lorene Jensen. In addition to his second wife, he was preceded in death by a stepdaughter.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Carroll Funeral Home in Big Fork.
