Hazel Audrey Ballou
Funeral service for Hazel Audrey Ballou, 81, Elgin, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Fletcher Christian Church with Jim Hall, minister, officiating.

Burial will be at Paradise Valley Cemetery, Lawton, under direction of Fletcher Funeral Home.

Mrs. Ballou died Sunday, May 18, 2008, at her home in Elgin.

A special viewing for family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

She was born Jan. 14, 1927, in Gotebo, to Ray and Sylvia (Ryerson) Gordon. She grew up in the Paradise Valley area. She attended Elgin High School, where she was senior class president and graduated in 1945. She married Wayne Seth Ballou on Aug. 18, 1945, in Walters. They made their home in Paradise Valley, where for many years they ranched, farmed, and owned and operated Ballou Trucking Company.

They moved to Elgin in 1991. Mr. Ballou died Feb. 18, 2006. She was a member of the Yakkity-Yak Club, the Weigh-In Club, and Good Sams Club. She was a member of Fletcher Christian Church and was devoted to Sunday School class. She enjoyed early morning Bible study and going to garage sales with her sister, Fern. She also enjoyed quilting, sewing and cooking.

Survivors include fours sons: Larry Ballou and his wife, Elaine, of Lawton; Billy Ballou and his wife, Paulette, of Elgin; Leo Ballou, of Oklahoma City, and Pat Ballou and his wife, Tina, of Elgin; a daughter, Julie Ramick and her husband, Mark, of Oklahoma City; a sister, Fern Massey, of Fletcher; 15 grandchildren: Buddy Ballou, Stacy Frye, Belinda Lujan, Dallas Ballou, Bailey Ballou, Casey Ballou, Lisa Ballou, David Ballou, Dustin Ballou, Leslie Holland, Kelly Williams, Audrey Ballou, Chelsea Byrd, Clayton Ramick, and Carly Ramick; and five great-grandchildren: Lacey Ballou, Merrick Ballou, Brodey Ballou, Maggie Ballou, and Kailah Ballou.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne; and three brothers: Forrest Gordon, Edward Gordon and George Baker, and a sister, Ruth Fritz.
