Smith Tharp was the son of Jehu and Rebecca Smith Tharp. He was born in Wayne County, Indiana about 1815. He married Francis Waymire 28OCT1841 in Wayne County, Indiana. He relocated to Madison County, Indiana near Frankton where he had purchased land near that town. He wife died in 1857 according to census records he was listed on the 1850 and 1860 census records. He possibly married Eliza Burk in Henry County, Indiana in 1862. At least 2 family files state that he died in pipe Creek Township on 1APT1874. It is presumed he was buried in Howard Cemetery along with his wife and his son Lot Tharp.
