Robert L. Gustin Jr., 76, of Anderson, died May 16, 2008, following an extended illness.

He was born Oct. 6, 1931, in Anderson, where he lived his entire life.

Robert was a veteran who served his country with the U.S. Army.

On June 2, 1956, he married Mary Jane McKinley in Danville, Ill.

Robert owned and operated Gustin Disposal Service for 25 years and Gustin's Market and Garden Center for 25 years.

He was a member of Memorial Circle Wesleyan Church. He was a two-time Indiana State Golden Glove champion boxer.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane (McKinley) Gustin of Anderson; beloved granddaughter, Shelley Smith and her father, Howard Smith, both of Anderson; two brothers, Charles (wife, Barbara) Gustin of Anderson and Delbert (wife, Judith) Gustin, New Port Richey, Fla.; a foster sister, Deborah Nelles of Brooksville, Fla.; nephews, Terry Gustin, Rick Gustin and Christopher Gustin; and nieces, Shirley Imel and Leah Fadely.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Robert L. Gustin Sr. and Freda (Fuller) Gustin; a son, Tracy Neal Gustin; daughter, Janie Lee Smith; and nephew, Mark Gustin

Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes and Crematory, South Chapel, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson, officiated by the Revs. Daniel Alexander and Clifton Ashlock. Burial will take place at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery, Anderson.
