The casket bearers were Charlie Walker, Ralph Huggins, Elmer Dalton, John Smith, Manuel Reynold and William Mollick. Burial was in the Maquon cemetery.
Among those who attended from a distance were the daughter, Mrs. Ollie McWilliams of Seattle, Wash.; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Walker and family, Galesburg; Ora West LaRose; Mrs. Roscoe Hopkins, Champaign; George Andrews, Peoria, and a number of relatives from Dahinda and Galesburg.
Daniel West, son of Samuel and Mary Ann West, was born near Maquon Jan. 30, 1850, and died July 16, 1936, after an illness of two days at the age of 86 years, 5 months and 16 days.
He had lived his entire life near his birthplace and was the last of his family of eight children.
He was married to Nancy Kinser, Nov. 7, 1872, and to them two children were born, Mrs. Lucy Alldredge of Prosses, Wash., and Mrs. Ollie McWilliams of Seattle, Wash.
Jan 18, 1889, he was married to Mary E. Sturtevant at Cuba, Ill. Besides his wife he is survived by their four children. Francis of Salt Lake City, Utah; Bert, at home; Florence Walker of Galesburg and Opal at home; also nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. and Mrs. West celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Jan. 18, 1933.
