Jerry was born to Loren "Lou" & Margaret (Napier) Allen. He was raised in La Porte County, Indiana.

As a teenager he is believed to have served as drummer boy in the Civil War.

By the age of 15 he had migrated west into Nebraska where he remained until late in life.

He married in 1876 to his first wife Viola (Samson) Allen. They startted their family in Nebraska, the family migrated to Oklahoma during the land rush in the late 1880's to early 1890's. By 1900 Jerry had moved his family back to Nebraska. Viola passed away abt 1905 in the Washington County area of Nebraska. 11 children were born to this marriage.

Jerry married 2nd abt 1907 to the widow Frances (Samson) Parks.

Abt Mar 1917, Jerry remarried again to the twice widowed Amanda (Samson) Hardy-Killam-Allen. ((She was the Aunt of his 1st wife).

Jerry and Amanda are buried near each other in Forest Mound Cem., Jay Em, Goshen Co., Wyoming.

Dates on Headstone read 1849 - 1932 , Jerry drank Lysol while his relatives were at church . Because of the tar and nicotine lining his throat from smoking a pipe very heavily , the Lysol did not burn on the way down so he looked fine when they got home, but later he died.
