After extensive research, there is convincing evidence that John W. Earp is John J. Earp. He has given his initial in his marriage license as W., but on his Missouri Death Certificate, the information was given as John J. Earp. John and his wife Amy were living at 437 Benton St. and he was employed in the welding department at Columbia Steel Tank Company. Sadly, at the 12th St. Bridge, John Earp ended his life by jumping. He was 52 years old. It can be noted that his wife gave the information on the dc and the initial J. was given.
On the application for his military gravestone, spouse Amy had a half-brother, Francis Frazee who likely who likely was the Frank that submitted the application and ordered the stone for John J. [W.] Earp, to be sent to Columbus, KS., to be installed at Pleasant View Cemetery. The date it was shipped was 21 Sept 1939.
On the application it is shown that he enlisted on 21 Apr 1917 and served until 24 Apr 1919. He was a private in Company E of the 137th. His birth was listed as 6 Feb 1880 and death 5 Feb 1930.

Thanks to Topeka Tom for his help providing the dc for this listing.

Also appreciation to Ed Priest for sharing the information about Francis 'Frank' Frazee being the one to apply for and order the military stone. More information on him can be found at wikitree search Frazee-65.

The death certificate can be viewed at Missouri Digital Archives/death certificates online website.
