FORT ANN◇ Hial "Ginger" P. Hall, 77, of Fish Road, passed away Thursday morning, Dec. 16 2004, at The Orchard Nursing Center in Granville, following a long illness.

Born in Granville on Sept. 3, 1927, he was the son of the late Hial and Mabel (Ellsworth) Hall.

For many years, Hial worked with the Warrensburg board and Paper Co. as a foreman in the paper beater room, and later, for 30 dedicated years, at Seelye's Auction House of Queensbury.

He served his country during World War II in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in August of 1946.

His hobbies included French And Indian War History, and Metal Detecting.

He loved to go treasure hunting, and in fact, wrote several short stories in the Treasure Hunting magazine and The Bark Eater publication, under the pen name "Hi Hall".

Hial was also considered by many of his friends to be a professional trapper, hunter and fisherman. He so loved to be outdoors. He had a great love for nature and feeding the birds, wild fox, and other wildlife in his backyard. It brought Hial endless hours of pleasure and enjoyment.

Besides his parents, three sisters: June Bowen, Freda Fuller, and Evelyn Baker; and five brothers: Meade, Willard, Gilford, Meredith, and Maynard Hall, also predeased him.

Survivors include his loving wife of 35 years, Alma (Dutcher) Hall of Fort Ann; one daughter Christine Laplanche of Fort Edward; three sons, Hial "John" Hall and his wife Carol, of Thurman, Anthony Hall and his wife Carolyn, of Fort Ann, and Jason Hall, also of Fort Ann; one step-son, Joe Philibert and his wife Joanne of Thurman; two step-daughters, Yvonne Lawrence of Thurman, and Jackie Smith and her husband, Ray, of Oregon; one sister, Doris Baker and her husband, Carl, of Thurman; 18 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and also several neices, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.

At Hial's request, there will be no calling hours.

A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Sunday, Dec. 19, at Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St. Queensbury.

Interment services will be private and at a time convenient to the family.

The family has requested, that those wishing to donate may send contributions to American Diabetes Association, 7 Washington Square, Albany, NY 12205-5512, in Hial's loving memory.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to everyone who took part in Hial's care and comfort during his illness and for making his final days a little easier.
