Oakland - Arnold Ellis Fox, 80, of East Center St., died yesterday at Garrett Memorial Hospital. Born March 31, 1892, in in Friendsville, he was a son of the late Frederick and Sarah A. (Forsythe) Fox. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel (Greenwood) Fox.


Mr. Fox owned and managed the F. G. Fox and Son Building Material, Hardware, and Farming Equipment Company, Friendsville; and he was retired in 1961 from the business of Arnold and Wilbur Fox Distributors of Esso Products in Garrett County.


He was an active member and official of Friendsville Lutheran Church and a member of the administrative board of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Oakland. He was also on the board of trustees of Tressler Lutheran Home, Loysville, PA.


Surviving are his widow, Beural (Casteel) Fox; one son, Wilbur Fox, Friendsville; three sisters, Mrs. L. K. Young, St. Petersburg, FL, and Mrs. G. C. Brown, Alexandria, VA; Mrs. Thomas T. Shields, Linthicum Heights; two step-daughters: Mrs. Sam Kyle J., Bridgeport, WV; and Mrs. Edward Watson, Palm Springs, CA; two grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.


The body is at the John 0. Durst Funeral Home where friends will be received. Services will be conducted there Wednesday at 2 p.m. by Rev. William B. Greynolds, pastor of Timonium United Methodist Church, Timonium. Interment will be in Blooming Rose Cemetery.
