Abel John Aragon

March 27, 1947 - December 23, 2023

PRICE, UT - Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle, Abel John Aragon, age 76, passed away on December 23, 2023. Abel was born on March 27, 1947 in Standardville, Utah to Abel B. Aragon, Sr. and Eva Escandon.

Survived by his loving wife, Linda; children, Donna Antillon and Brenda Rodriguez; step-children, Sherrie (Jim) Burt, Kerrie (Jerry) Barker, Kirttiss Gomez, and Shavaughn Perez; many grandchildren; brothers, Richard (Joanie) Aragon and James Aragon; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Abel married Cathy and was blessed with two devoted daughters. Together, the two of them later divorced. Abel then married Linda later in life and had four more step-children.

Preceded in death by his parents, Abel B. Aragon, Sr. and Eva Escandon; and siblings, Arthur Aragon, Becky Marinos, and Elena Robles.

Throughout Abel's working career he spent much of his time working in the many different coal mines in the surrounding area for several years. Part of his accomplishment in the coal mining industry was being apart of the first longwall development and practice in Carbon and Emery County. Abel was a devout Catholic and was a member of the Notre Dame De Lourdes Catholic Church in Price. There rarely was a time that Abel did not attend Sunday services. He enjoyed his time and the friendships he had made over the years attending church.

After Abel left the coal mines, he developed an interest in metal detecting which led him to his "Gold Fever." He enjoyed dredging for gold, playing pool and cards, and being a Salesman in life. You would always find Abel video recording his family during many occasions with his famous I-pad. He loved to create those memories for his family to enjoy years down the road. Abel was known for his love of New Mexico music and riding around in his cars. There was never a time that he was not dressed to the nines. He was always dressed nice, clean shaven, his shoes were always shined and do not forget about his hair. He was always dressed immaculately. Abel was a life long sponsor of the Legion Baseball team in Price. He had a giving nature about himself. He would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need.

The family wishes to express their many thanks to Tiffany Bloomer with CNS Home Health & Hospice, to Dr. Shane Gagon and to Dr. Paul Thayn, to the staff of Castleview Hospital, and finally to Gage Gravley and Bobby Etzel at Mitchell Funeral Home for the loving care, patience, and guidance that have been shown to our family at this time.

Vigil service, Thursday, December 28, 2023, 7:00 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main Street) in Price. The family will receive friends beginning at 6:00 p.m. prior to the Vigil service.
