I have seen his name as
Alanson Hines or Alancing Hinds Alford.
His nickname was "Goss."
There was a famous minister in his day by the name of
Alanson Goss.
And AH's son was named Clifton Hines Alford.

I do know that he was a farmer and had a sawmill at his home.

According to family tradition, and the St.Helena Parish Court House Marriage records, Kate Thurston was the first wife of A.H.Alford.
She was said to have passed away in childbirth along with her child..
The St.Helena Parish Marriage Index lists them as marrying 04-03-1904.The record also lists her as Mrs.Kate Thurston, so that could mean she was previously married.

Her grave is unmarked.Possibly the grave of her child also unmarked or they could have been buried together.Could have had a funeral home marker that is now lost.

A.H. remarried in 1907.So it can be inferred that she passed away sometime prior to then.

A.H.re-married 06-13-1907 to Myrtis Dillon.
They were divorced or annulled as Myrtis Dillon Alford married Harvey Addison 02-14-1912.

A.H. married Missouri Pierce Fluker on 04-03-1911.
