Johanna D. Erickson of Lafayette, CA died on May 18, 2022 after a series of long illnesses. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, John, and their sons, Roy and John (wife Lisa) and granddaughter Paige.
Johanna was born on September 28, 1942 in Manhattan, New York. As a teenager she moved with her family to Lincoln Nebraska where she met John whom she later wed. Their first son Roy was born in Lubbock Texas. Following John's completion of pilot training, the family moved to Dover Delaware where son John was born. Johanna and the boys followed John back and forth across the U.S. The family finally settled in Lafayette where they have lived for 37 years.
Johanna launched a successful career in real estate while raising her boys. She worked different jobs in the real estate industry from Virginia to California. Johanna finished her education with a degree in Public Administration from Cal State Hayward in 1982 the same year her son Roy graduated from Acalanes High School. She was active in the community and served in various capacities, including President, of parents clubs and sports clubs in the local schools.
In recent years, she volunteered at the Lafayette Library and Book Store. Her love of reading was taken too soon by failing eye sight.
She had an incredible sense of humor, was a great story teller and a gourmet cook. She was an avid Democrat and she'd be happy to tell you why.
In accordance with her wishes, a private family memorial was held. Johanna is interned at Oakmont Memorial making her a permanent resident of Lafayette. Donations may be made to your favorite charity in Johanna's honor.
