Rudy Cordova 88, was born November 23, 1922 in Santa Rita, New Mexico, went to be with the Lord on November 16, 2011. He was the beloved husband of 67 years to Bertha Cordova, devoted wife and caregiver of 13 years. Rudy is also survived by his daughters, Pat (Gilbert) Flores, Susan Pryor and Theresa Pavelich; six grandchildren, Nick Pryor, Anna Esquivel, Christina Savel, Julie Winn, John Flores and Felicia Minter and 18 great- grandchildren.

Our family hero served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II and was decorated with the Silver Star, Purple Heart and Bronze Medal during the Iwo Jima campaign. His citation reads "For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against the enemy."

After the war, Rudy worked as a Chevron Station manager throughout Arizona. His leadership abilities led him to be elected as Representative for the Employee's Union. Rudolph was a life member of Elk's Lodge #385.

He will be best remembered for his delightful humor, out-going personality and Mexican cooking. Rudy delighted in giving nicknames to family members and is remembered fondly as "Uncle Root Beer". Our Dad will always be remembered for his generosity of spirit by his loving family.

In lieu of flowers and in honor of his well-lived life, donations can be made to the Tucson Community Food Bank.
