STRAWN - J.B. Shubert, 81, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003, at his home.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003, at the Trinity Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Brad Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Strawn.
Mr. Shubert was born on Feb. 28, 1922, in Albin, Okla., to Robert Andrew and Effie Etta (Dill) Shubert. He was married to the late Lena McCoy on May 26, 1943, in Palo Pinto. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a self-employed cabinet maker and worked and lived in Strawn. He attended the Mingus Baptist Church and was a member of the Smelter Valley Baptist Church in Amarillo serving as deacon.
Survivors include a son, J.L. Shubert of Strawn; four daughters, Sybil Bailey of San Angelo, Effie Covey of Granbury, and Ruthie Leath and Nancy Cougar, both of Strawn; a brother, Dan Shubert of Stephenville; a sister, Ruthie Fletcher of Mineral Wells; 28 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lena McCoy, on Oct. 23, 2000; and three daughters, Shirley Kemp, Josie Webb and Sue Holloway; a son-in-law; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
