Born Aug. 26, 1895 in Park County, she was the daughter of Warren and Susan (Rowings) Lane.
Mrs. Rice was a retired practical nurse, having working at Putnam County Hospital and in private homes.
She was a member of First Christian Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty Wills, Greencastle; two sisters, Esith Thomas, Greencastle, and Bonnie Steegmiller, Florida; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, David Chavis; two brothers, Harold and Clay Lane, and a sister, Zella O'Mullane.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Clinton Falls Cemetery with Dr. C. Thomas Steiner officiating. Friends may may call 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Hopkins Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle.
