Lewis Ferdinand Case 75 of 117 Division Street died at 6:45 o'clock this morning. Death was caused by creeping paralysis after an illness of 15 years during the last 10 years of which he had lived in retirement.

Funeral Services will be held at the home at 10 o'clock Monday, Rev. A U. Ogilive of the Congregational Church officiating. The burial will take place at Grace Lawn cemetery. Mr. Case was a member of the Knights of Pythias, and a member of the lodge will be selected for pallbearers.

Mr. Case was a son of Lewis Ferdinand and Mehitabel Case and was born in Middlebury Township, Elkhart County on November 7, 1849. All of his life was lived in Elkhart County. For 25 years prior to coming to Elkhart, he lived in Goshen, where he was engaged in the carriage manufacturing business. His factory burned in 1900 and he then came to Elkhart and engaged in the livery business with C.S. Smith and still later until his retirement conducted a garage.

Surviving Mr. Case are a son, Charles C. Case of Atlanta, Georgia who with Mrs. Case reached Elkhart on Wednesday of this week and a granddaughter, Barbara Case.

Lewis was a carriage manufacturer in Goshen until his factory was destroyed by fire in 1900, and he then came to Elkhart and engaged in the livery business, and later in the garage business until the fall of 1911. Lewis died in 1925, at age 75. Nellie died in 1922. Both succumbed after periods of invalidism extending over a number of years. They had been married 45 years, and had one son and one granddaughter. Lewis had been a member of the Elkhart lodge of the Knights of Pythias, and members of the lodge were pallbearers at his funeral at the Congregational church. The Rev. A.U. Ogilvie officiated.
