Samuel Lewis ALLEN was born in Jefferson County, Kansas, near Williamstown, January 7, 1890 and departed this life, Oct. 4, 1946 at the home of his sister, Mrs. Isa STALLARD, at the age of 56 years, 8 months and 27 days.
In 1916 he was united in marriage with Edith BRACKEN. To this union was born a daughter, Mrs. Ruth HAMM. In 1919 this dear wife preceded him in death.
He later married Clara SHOCKLEY who survives him.
His entire life was spent on the farm home near Williamstown.
He leaves to mourn his departure his aged father, Luther Allen, his daughter, Mrs. Ruth Hamm of Perry, one sister, Mrs. Isa Stallard, one brother Jesse Allen, one half-sister, Mrs. Lillian HINES, one grandson, Verland GREEN and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was held at the Methodist church in Oskaloosa Sunday afternoon, 2 p.m., by Rev. A.L. Hughes, Pastor. A ladies quartette, Mrs. John Roberts, Miss Marian
Swoyer, Mrs. Mary Beth Jepson, and Miss Colleen LeGer, sang. Mrs. B. P. Davis, was at the organ. Burial was in Buster cemetery.
