John was born to Jan and Gretje (Kruse) Reiners.

John married Maggie Van Bockern on Jul. 10, 1887 in Lennox, SD. 10 children were born to this union; Grace J., Tena, John Penny, Arthur, Dick J., Baby Boy, Baby Boy, Baby Boy, Nellie and Otto A.

John attained the age of 75 years, 11 months and 5 days.

The following is from the Lennox Diamond Jubilee Book.

A record of almost 52 years of married life has been bestowed upon Mr. and Mrs. John J. Reiners. These well-known Lennox residents have been in this community 58 and 53 years, respectively.

Mr. Reiners was born in Grundy county, Iowa, in 1866. He continued to make his home in that vicinity for 15 years, until 1881 when his parents—Mr. and Mrs. John Reiners—came to Dakota Territory and settled in this vicinity.

Mrs. Reiners, nee Maggie Van-Bockern, was born January 6, 1868 near Ackley, IA. When she was 18 years old, in 1886, she came to Dakota Territory and this community to join her parents who settled here the year previous. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Van Bockern, were natives of
Germany, and after making their home near Ackley came to this vicinity in 1885.

Mr. and Mrs. Reiners were married here July 10, 1887.

Seven children were born to this union, namely: Grace Reiners, who passed away June 23, 1938; Tena Reiners, John Reiners, Arthur Reiners, Dick Reiners, Nellie Reiners and Otto Reiners, all of whom were born here.

Mr. and Mrs. Reiners have eight grandchildren.
