EGLON, W.Va. - Charles Richard Lipscomb, 89, of Eglon, passed away Nov. 23, 1998, at Cortland Acres Nursing Home, Thomas.
He was born July 7, 1909, in Aurora, a son of the late Thomas A. and Etta Bolyard Lipscomb. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lona S. Lipscomb, on June 10, 1998. They were married on May 2, 1930, at St. Matthews Episcopal Church, Oakland, Md. Four brothers, Bob, Homer, George and Roy; and two sisters, Della Simms and Daisy Shillingburg preceded him in death.
Survivors include four sons, Lourain Harold Lipscomb, Winchester, Va., Edward Norman Lipscomb, Eglon, Gerald Bradley Lipscomb, Horse Shoe Run, Tommy Bernard Lipscomb, Charles Town; one daughter, Mrs. Lewis Kay (Dora Etta) Vincent, Bruceton Mills; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Mr. Lipscomb was a retired carpender and farmer, and he was a Protestant by faith.
Friends will be received at the Hinkle Funeral Home, Davis, on Wednesday, Nov. 25, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
On Thursday, Nov. 26, the body will be moved to St. Johns Lutheran Church at Red House, Md., to lie in state from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m., the funeral service hour. The Rev. Bill Connelly and the Rev. Dave Parker will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Aurora Cemetery.
Hinkle Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
