Rev. W. E. Ellis, 72, well known evangelist of the Church of the Nazarene, died at the local hospital Monday night. He had suffered a heart attack at his home on Straight Mountain two weeks ago, and had remained in a critical condition at the hospital since that time. Mr. Ellis had served in the ministry more than forty years. He traveled throughout the country during his evangelistic work, and became widely known in Alabama for his radio work and preaching in the various churches. Funeral services were held at 2:00 o'clock Wednesday, at Union Hill Nazarene Church on Straight Mountain. Rev. C. E. Perry and W. R. Pratt officiated. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Zella Ellis; four sons, B. N. Ellis, Medford, Ore., J. T. Ellis, El Cantro, Calif., W. E. Ellis, Jr., Imperial Beach Calif.; K. H. Ellis, San Diego, Calif., five daughters, Mrs. John Riando, King City, Calif., Mrs. Joe Jeans, Sa-loma Beach, Calif., Mrs. L. G. Warren, Mento Beach, Calif., Mrs. W. H. Blue, Cambria, Calif., and Mrs. J. Fortoricis, Bay City, Ore.; two brothers, W. B. Ellis, Selma, Ala., and H. A. Ellis, Ft. Worth, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. A. R. Reneau, Dodson, Texas, and Mrs. E. E. Helm, Denton, Texas. Brown-Service was in charge of funeral arrangements. Interment was in Fosters Chapel Cemetery.
