Alice L. Melcher, 98, a longtime Wenatchee resident, died Wednesday morning, February 7, 2007, at Central Washington Hospital. She was born on October 1, 1908, to Marnius and Nikolena (Knuduson) Christensen in Copenhagen, Denmark. On June 20, 1932, she married William J. "Bill" Melcher at Lindsey, where they made their home and farmed. In 1947, they moved to Wenatchee where she worked in the restaurant business. She worked for Little Brick for 15 years and retired from the Elks. Mrs. Melcher was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Survivors include one son, Elmer Melcher of Wenatchee; three daughters, Connie Costello of Moses Lake, Patty Whitmire and Anita Olson, both of Wenatchee; one brother, Harold Christensen of Columbus, NE; two sisters, Kathrine Becher of Newman Grove, NE and Elvina Hoadley of Genoa, NE; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; three grandchildren; three brothers; and four sisters. A Funeral Service will be held at Telford's Chapel of the Valley on Saturday, February 10, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Wenatchee City Cemetery. Visitation will be today (Friday) from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. Telford's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
