World War II submarine Skipper. He graduated from Annapolis in 1932 and attended Submarine School in New London. He served aboard the USS Pampanito SS-383 under Commander Frank W. Fenno Jr. as the PCO (Prospective Commanding Officer). Instead of being given command of the Pampanito he was given command of the USS Seadog SS-401. While in command of the Seadog he and his crew sunk 7 ships for a total of 36,200 tons. He was awarded the Navy Cross.
