A family Bible record and letter of 1867 indicate that Sarah died "a few months before" - 3 Jan 1861- they had been turned out of their house due to the converging armies of the North and the South and had to flee to safety. [Terry Family Letters, letter dated 1867 , they had fled their home in June 1861). Her mother stored some of Sarah's clothes and personal family objects such as letters in a box and left them for a few days but they were destroyed or robbed of them.
