James Tidwell Dies At Champion
James F. Tidwell, known to his friends as Uncle Jimmy, died at the home of his son, C.F. Tidwell, at Champion Saturday. He had been in ill health for some time but the immediate cause of his death is given as paralysis. Mr. Tidwell was 85 years of age and was among the oldest citizens of this community. He had been a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church for many years and was a regular attendant at his services. The deceased is survived by five sons, C.D. Tidwell, C.F. Tidwell, and W.P. Tidwell, all of Route 2, Oneonta, and J.P. Tidwell of Mississippi; four daughters, Eliza Daily of Gadsden; Mrs. Sara Cornelius of Houston, Texas; Ms. Vicy Self of Rosa and Mrs. Jennie Jones of Altoona. The funeral services were held at the Baptist Church in Oneonta Sunday and were conducted by Rev. F.M. Humphrey, assisted by Rev. P.J. Jordan and Rev. Ira Tidwell, Wade directing.
