George Michaels, moved near Ekalaka,Carter County, Montana, around 1915. He had made his homestead with his wife Margaret Amanda Vanwormer Michaels along with his two son's whom homesteaded along side him in the Chalk Butte's.

died at his home shortley after Midnight, Tuesday morning.
he has been living in Ekalaka for a couple of months , recieving treatment.
But went out to his home a short time ago.
Decesed was a native of Indiana born on Nov 12, 1846 .
He served as a soldier in the Civil War and came here
from Northwestern , Iowa eight years ago and settled on a
homestead where he has since resided.
He leaves two sons Ellis who lives in the Chalk Buttes,
and a son who lives at Quimby , Iowa .
His aged wife is also in Iowa at the present time visiting releatives.
The funeral Services will be held at Ekalaka at 2 o'clock this afternoon.
Interment in the Local Cemetery .

Funeral of Civil War Vet
The Funeral of George Michaels who died at his home
on Christmas Day . Was held in Ekalaka on Friday of
last week.
The funeral was held at the Church conducted by E. J. Snipes
with the internmet at the Local Cemetery.
Deceased was a Civil War Veteran and was buried with
full military honors .By Carter Post Num. 60, American Leigon.
The firing square under command of John Hehn was composed
of Thorvald Senrue, Gene Nims, Lacy Speelman, John McComsey,
Frank Ownes " Taps" was sounded by O.A Dahl.
Pall bearers were H. B. Albert, Hurdley Elmore, Hallie Cambell,
Pat Carey, T. E. Nelstead, W. S. Carlson.
Mr. Michaels was a native of Ohio and was 77 years of age.
In early life he lived for a short time in Wisconsin.in which state
he united in marriage to Miss Margarette Vanwarmer who still
survives. Four son's were born to this union two of whom are still
living. Ellis who still survives in the Chalk Buttes and another son
who lives in Quiby Iowa. He also leaves a brother who lives in
Nebraska and a sister in Iowa. He came to Montana from Iowa in
1914 and has since made his home in the Chalk Buttes.
He served in the Civil War in the 152 nd Indiana Infantry.
