He was born on July 8, 1917, in Walton County, the son of John Rowan Cawthon and Addie Steele Cawthon. He was a veteran, having retired from the U.S. Navy after serving his county during World War II, the Korean conflict and the Vietnam crisis.
Among survivors are his sister, his niece, 2 nephews, and five great-nieces and nephews.
It was Mr. Cawthon's request that no flowers be sent, rather memorials may be made to favorite charities in his memory.
A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to funeral time. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 14, at 10 a.m. in Jerry Evans Chapel with Brother Joel Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Steele Church Cemetery, also known as Alaqua United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Arrangements and services are under the direction of Jerry Evans.
