Margaret Anna Currie Beamer, age 83, passed away peacefully at Colonial Vista Long Term Care Center. Born in Cashmere, WA in February 1924, Margaret graduated from Cashmere High School in 1942. She married Adrian "Bink" Beamer in July of 1943, spending her early married years in Brigham City, UT, where her husband was stationed in the U.S. Army. After spending several years living in Cheney, WA and Silverdale, WA, she and her family eventually settled in Ellensburg, WA, living there for 26 years. Margaret worked for several years on the campus of Central Washington University, then attended Central as a student. She graduated from Central Washington University with a degree in Education in 1973, the same year that her son, Scott, also graduated from Central. After graduation, she taught at Davis High School in Yakima and in 1983, Margaret and her husband retired to the Wenatchee area where she lived until her death. Margaret was an accomplished seamstress, she loved to sew and created many beautiful clothes. She was an avid crossword puzzle fan, a swimmer at the YMCA and loved her afternoons out getting "a mocha". She was a community volunteer, spending many hours assisting troubled children with their studies.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, "Bink" Beamer; daughter, Adrianne Sherard of Brea, CA; son, Scott Beamer of Peachtree City, GA; sister, Mary Baldwin of Tacoma, WA; brother, Bill Currie of Seattle, WA and brother, Bud Currie of Wheeling, WV. She was loved by all, and we miss her very much.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at 1:00 p.m., in the Cashmere Cemetery with chaplain Scott Langager, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Research or Central Washington Hospital Hospice. Arrangements are by Jones and Jones Funeral Home, Wenatchee.
