Mrs. Baker, a longtime resident of Greenville, had made her home in Richmond, Va., prior to moving to Bethel in 1983. She was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church. As long as her friends and family can remember, Edna would rise before the sun, excited to meet her day. As late as October of 2005,"Mema"or"MeMe" as Edna was fondly known, could be found gardening. Her yard was her passion and she spent countless hours tending to her flowers and landscape. In addition, she had previously enjoyed preparing meals for her family gatherings. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Edna will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mrs. Baker was preceded in death by her husbands, Joseph Ebern Allen, Jule D. Forbes and Burney W. Baker; two sons, Kenneth Lane Allen and Rev. Ebern E. Allen; and a grandson, Kenneth Wayne Allen.
