Services for Henry Clay King, 85, of Ferriday, who died Tuesday, June 5, 2001, were held Thursday at Young's Funeral Home Chapel where Father Dharma Raj officiated.

Burial was in Heard Cemetery near Manifest under the direction of Young's Funeral Home.

Mr. King was born April 17, 1916, in Catahoula Parish, the son of Mannie and Jodie Anderson King.

He was a Catholic, received his education from Harrisonburg High School and attended Northeast Louisiana University. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, a business man in Ferriday since 1952 and past president of the 5th Levee District. Mr. King was president of the Big Ten Hunting Club, charter member and past president of the Rifle Point Hunting Club.

Mr. King was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Alva A. King, George Patrick King and Arthur King; and three sisters, Ida King McGuffee, Neva King McGuffee and Lucile King Henegan.

Survivors include his wife, Nell Tyler King; one daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Clint Vegas of Ferriday; one son and his wife, Tyler Clay and Sabrina King of Fort Meyers, Fla.; six grandchildren, Andrew Vegas, Adam Vegas, Raquel, Elijah, Caroline and Samuel Henry King; two sisters, Juanita Blackmon and Doris K. Sturrock; and two brothers, George E. "Bill" King and Dr. Harold King.

Pallbearers will be Harry Liner, Glenn McGuffee, Dr. Basil Trunzler, Howard Vogt, Homer Hewitt, Tom Milliken, Mark Taunton and Bill McDuff.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Eugene Vogt, Morris Johnson, Dr. Maurice Gremillion, Dr. B.D. King and Dr. Raymond Collier.

The family requests memorials be made to St. Patrick Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 369, Ferriday, La.
